I can't believe I have something to share!

(If I can get it to post.)

I was in our front area and saw something out of the corner of my eye. I... thought it was a fake. A toy. I'm assuming it's a moth, but it's HUGE!

I thought it was alive. But I touched it a few times with a leaf and there was nothing. Anyone know what kind of moth this is? From wing tip to wing tip, it's nearly as wide as my hand! It was just sitting there on a leaf, looking as though it was posed. I was sad to see it was not moving. It seemed in good shape, so what happened to it?

Seriously, if this had been alive and flying at me or if I'd see it in the house you would've heard me screaming from wherever you are now. But this was so beautiful!

I'm still not convinced it's dead. I hope it's gone when I wake up tomorrow. I would be happy to know it was okay.

It is very pretty! I think it has lovely, subtle colors. And you got a GREAT shot of it! :-)

But I know what you mean about Giant Flying Bugs -- the biggest moths I've seen around here (North Central Texas) are sphinx moths, which are large, but nowhere near as huge as cecropias. They're still kind of creepy.
