Reed bunting

This fellow has been visiting the garden for about a week. At first we only had a couple of fleeting glimpses during which we went, "is that a sparrow...?" Today, however, the woodpecker in the previous post knocked a big chunk of fat ball out of the feeder, the little guy suddenly overcame his shyness, and we were able to identify him as a reed bunting.

Trouble is that there are so many 'small brown jobs'. Sparrows and dunnocks look alike until you see them close to. Dunnocks are the ones with the beautiful eyebrows! :o)
