Ooh, the flowers in that last one are fascinating. Some kind of thistle?

It is although I couldn't tell you what variety- those heads will turn bright purple later in the Summer.

The hedges were full of that perfume.

Green! \o/ The second photo is my favorite, and the oak leaves are adorable. :)

That gate leads into some protected chestnut coppice where they are trying to get the old coppicing crafts going again and that's so good to see.

Oak is a favoured hedgerow building plant here along with holly and blackthorn.
