Fall leaves in local creek.
I really love this photo I grabbed at Flower Hill Nature Preserve in Middlesex, NC last weekend. Flower Hill is a unique microenvironment of cool, almost mountainous bluffs that are nestled in an otherwise flat piedmont, and whose unique topography houses several plant species that are not found elsewhere in the area. It is also a great place to find mushrooms this time of year. :)

The woods surrounding Moccasin Creek; the reflection of fall leaves on the water in reds, oranges, and yellows creates an almost rainbow effect with the greenery and blue of the sky. |
