Liked the mix of moon sliver with dark clouds and orange sunset





A night with a really clear full moon. Distant shot above, close-up below. What I particularly liked was seeing the red edges to the bottom half of the moon.





There seemed to be more stripes in person but you can still see the layering of what looks like candy striped clouds.



What struck me about this view was (just right of center) a cloud opening that looked like an overhead light fixture switched on.

Wow, stunning photos! That close up one of the moon is amazing! I agree that the red around the edges is really neat. The night shots, especially the one with the lights reflected across the water, are also darling!

I didn't have trouble with the moon but I almost included here a photo I took when trying to get Venus and the Moon in the same shot in a different month. It never came out properly, though I did manage Venus by itself on another night -- after many many tries! I just couldn't get the camera to focus properly -- it was either a bright dot or a blur.

It's funny, I almost didn't post that one because so often I get some vivid sunset colors in pics, which is not the case here. But I did like the contrast, and apparently it's a favorite for others.

The second photo, by the dock, portrays the sort of full moonlit night that would have me longing for someone to duel. Or to romance. Ideally both.

The red edge around the full moon in the third photo is something I’ve noticed, too—and thank you for confirming that it’s not just me; kudos for capturing it! (If you look closely, the red area is an arc rather than a halo—it’s complemented by a cyan arc opposite, implying the most visible parts of a rainbow sequence.)

Above and to the right of the “overhead light fixture” in photo #5, at about 2 o’clock, is a dark cloud shape that looks for all the world like the Starfleet logo.
