Roe deers

Usually I only see their tracks in the snow but on my walk today I spotted these three Roe Deers (Capreolus capreolus) and managed to shap a photo before they spooked and ran off.

They tend to stick to the forest locally so we rarely get to see them this close!

They're cute. Their ears look so small to me! I'm used to seeing whitetailed deer or mule deer, which have medium and large ears respectively.

They usually do that here too but I think the heavy snow the day before had them ranging closer to town looking for food. (Where I lived before you could see them walking down suburban streets in broad daylight!)
