this year's butterflies
Butterfly season in New England is quickly coming to an end. Here are a few I saw this year:

White Admiral.

Red Admiral.

Spring Azure.

Horace's Duskywing.

Viceroy.

Canadian Tiger Swallowtail.

I think this is a Compton Tortoiseshell. It was my first butterfly of the year, back in April.
And an honorary mention:

Eight-spotted Forester, which is actually a moth, despite its non-fuzzy antennae.
