OT: Test

Yesterday I made a post here, and after Ryda Wrong commented, and I replied, I realized I could see both of our IP Addresses displayed in the comments, so I deleted the post.

I've got a DW staffer who has no idea how that happened and wants screencaps if I can do it again: so if anyone who doesn't mind the ip addy displayed could comment here, please?

On a community post with IP logging turned on, the IPs are visible both to the OP of the post and the community moderators, but to nobody else - is that not what's going on? It should be.

(If we want IP logging turned off in this community, by the way, I'm willing to turn it off - I have no strong feelings about it either way, so. It's just that once in a while you need it, and when you do, you needed it yesterday, so I usually leave it on in my communities unless there's a particular need for anonymity.)

Well, you don't have to go hide! Everybody gets turned around when they're new.

Actually, you should check an older post in the community that you *aren't* OP of, just to make sure you can't see the IPs there. It's possible it is a glitch.

ETA: And if the staffers are confused, it might be that's not how it's supposed to work on DW - it's how I've noticed it working before, though, and it's how it's supposed to work on JF and LJ, so I just assumed it was what DW intended, too.

No need to feel bad. When I saw this post, I remembered that I saw IP addresses displayed on a post in [community profile] teaching a few days ago - and only realised a minute of panicked thinking later that I acually mod that comm and made the original post. It's an easy thing to have happen, and better to say something than have it really turn out to be a glitch.

Aaah, I did not know about the original poster side of it, and was getting really worried there was some kind of hole needing to be fixed about displaying IPs to everybody.

Sorry, [personal profile] madripoor_rose, for any confusion I may have caused!
