Beauly

I was looking for some other photos earlier, when I stumbled across these photos that I'd meant to share over here and never got round to it. Ages ago I went on a little daytrip to see the ruins of the Abbey at Beauly, there are some lovely walks round there by the river and I found quite a few natural things to photograph too.

Old Elm
The traditional graveyard Elm Tree was just the start.

Thistledown 2
For the full, Scottish cliche, I couldn't resist some rather photogenic thistledown.
Water Daisies
I'm not entirely sure what the proper name for these is, but they seemed to be a sort of water daisies.

It was a little bit odd, because the path I followed was signposted as 'River Walk' but from the - nicely maintained - path you really couldn't see the river as there was an embankment in the way (presumably for flood prevention) though if you went to the top of the embankment, it was rather lovely. Otherwise the path marched in good order up to a curve in the river where it suddenly gave way to gravel beach and what had presumably once been a ford in the river but was no longer the case.

I love taking tours of areas I would never see otherwise. Thank you!
