Brimstone butterfly

I am thrilled to have taken this photo. Brimstones visit our garden every summer, but I've never seen one actually have a lengthy rest in it, let alone allow me to get this close with my giant macro lens and pap it repeatedly.

Yes, it is, and thank you! I'm so glad I dashed in to collect my camera, as I'd almost given up on the idea that it would stay still long enough for me to capture it.

I know I've seen a male flitting about as well, but it's probably too much to ask the brimstones for another photo-op this year.

Oh yes. Brimstones are a joy to watch. The tops of her wings were much yellower, though nowhere near as bright as the male's.

I did not know there existed such a thing! I've only ever seen the leaf bugs. (Whatever their real name is.) Once again, I'm not much of a bug person. But I can certain appreciate this beautiful photo of amazing creature! Thanks for sharing.

I think leaf insects are mostly southern hemispherical, although green shield bugs do a pretty good job of being leafy. And thank you!
