Up In The Trees

Three starlings resting in some branches.

Spotted many starlings, as well as what I believe to be a lapland longspur in the trees today. Took some pictures with my phone. Three more images under the cut, including the one with the bird I think is a lapland longspur. But it was so far away and I wasn't able to see it's entire body so it's hard for me to guess, so please feel free to let me know if I am mistaken!

The starlings here usually migrate but they just haven't done so this year!

I think I saw a group of starlings a few days ago as well, which was when we were having high winds and low temperatures. Normally they don't come to our food plate and they didn't stick around for even a minute. But I'm pretty sure that's what they were.

I've never seen a Lapland longspur before but from looking at photos I think it certainly looks like one. Or possibly a Snow bunting, but it doesn't really look white enough.

So cool to see Starlings! I haven't seen any since the summer since ours always migrate.
