Bleeding heart flowers

[Click to embiggen.]

I always wanted one of these in my garden, and it finally occurred to me to plant one last month. It's in bloom now and seeing it every day makes me happy.

Such a beautiful flower! Bet the toddler is fascinated by it. As I recall, I was at her age.

A lovely shot. I used to be rather indifferent to them as I only knew them from graves, where they were planted in far too large numbers. But my husband always wanted some; and as the corner where he had them first would have clashed badly with pink, he got two white ones which are very beautiful. (My husband is a hobby botanist who likes to try almost everything to see if it grows in our climate, or simply because he fancies the plant. I prefer a cottage-garden view in general, and our compromise is trying not to have baldy clashing colours in some areas. *g* )

My grandmother used to call them Sacred Heart flowers and make it all religious.
So pretty.
