Mallard

This morning, a male mallard did some fairly elaborate bathing/preening next to the canal lock gate. He was looking very glossy and pleased with himself by the end of it!

Thank you! It was from a series of them where I held down the shutter button in continuous mode while he splashed his wings in the water.

Oh, very! I also forgot to point out that he is effectively "walking on water" here as he's pretty far from the edge of the canal. :)
