A walk in the Ercall Forest

I don't think I've posted a Winter walk in the Ercall and we were up there today so here goes!

Fungi!



And pools! Everything from a puddle to a lake is a 'pool' locally.







Wonderful colours in this dead wood:



It's been a windy Winter and there are trees down:



Another fungus amid some Spanish moss (which is actually a lichen)

The hill in the background is Wenlock Edge which some of you may know from the poetry of A E Housman or the music of Vaughan Williams:

Just like every dessert is pudding 😄 And ketchup is tomato sauce which begs the question what other tomato sauces are. I see a pattern here!

Although 'pool' is very much a Shropshire thing rather than an English thing. :o)

What gorgeous photos! I love that tree with all the moss at the foot. All of them are pretty though. It makes me want to go walk the river near by... thanks for the inspiration to get out!

Love the colours of the lichen and the ivy leaves! It looks lovely and refreshing.

It's been rather a mild Winter here so lot of the colours have kept right on going!

Pretty. I was surprised to see so much greenery... sure, some's moss, but it looks like there are some evergreen bushes there. What were the temperatures? Around here, that pond would be frozen over.
