We took a walk up Lime Kiln Lane and into Short Wood yesterday, then over to Huntington Lane and the Wrekin Forest.
We turned off Lime Kiln Lane up towards Short Wood. The little bridge takes you over the brook:

Ivy trying to gain height:

We're a long way from the sea- this is hay netting:

The path up to Short Wood:

This strange tree has grown from what was once a laid hedge:

Fungi!

The wild cereal grasses are turning golden:

Huntington Lane:

Sheeps!

This crack in a tree has been a nesting site for wild honeybees ever since we moved here:

The Wrekin Forest:

Lichens on birch:

The hay harvest is in. There's been a move back to traditional bales from those round things:

The Caradocs and the Long Mynd in Autumn haze:

As we headed back into town we noticed one of our neighbours had their regular pumpkin crop!

A view across town from up above just off Ercall Lane. We live a bit to the right of what you can see there. Beyond town in that direction is the other walking territory which we use- moorland. The Weald Moors and beyond that, the Shropshire Plain:
