Culturally, it's considered less of an issue. For example, the geyser in Geyser just has a small 6" «you shouldn't go past here…» fence.

Niagara Falls has guard rails, both on the mainland and on Goat Island, but they are sturdy 1930s-era rails set into concrete, and it is possible to climb over them. I have never wanted to, but some have done it. But the falls in your photo is bigger than our Niagara.

Iceland is my happy place! I just wish I had managed to go before the hordes descended. My husband did, lucky him!

Interesting! I suppose I'm just too used to the big railings around drops in the U.S., that and I don't trust my balance that much!
