Late winter/early spring flowers poking their heads up...

For those in the colder areas of the Northern Hemisphere, I thought I'd share a reminder that spring is indeed on its way...and there's more than just the odd crocus out there.

Hellebores aka Lenten Roses (guess when they bloom) are blooming. Here's a pink one in our garden. I am not responsible for its beauty, although I did help clear some leaves off it.

Yellow Witch Hazel (sorry, I forget the exact cultivar name) is also making itself known in a pot on the patio. We just got this one, and are waiting for a good time to plant (human joints must also acclimate to the weather to be able to do this job.)

 Spring is beginning to stretch and unfurl in our neck of the woods...what about yours?

Ha, yeah, I'm weeping in Chicago -- but the pictures are lovely!

I've always got spring-envy, so no worries. :) Are you in the DC metro area? I'm amazed there's that much growth already!

I am in the DC-Metro area, and these plants are special because they bloom at this time of year. (Thus the name.) Plus we've had them sheltered under a protective layer of leaves rather than raking the leaves and sending them off to a landfill. The crocuses are only just coming up.

Apparently, though, we've just officially switched plant growing zones to one typically slightly south of us, which the agency in charge of it (horticultural society? I don't know) will not officially say is because of global warming.

So gorgeous, thanks for sharing! Spring is starting to bloom here as well, though I suppose that's no surprise considering how winter wasn't consistently cold here in Georgia. I'm very glad that winter's almost over.
