Blizzard in the mountains

Went hiking last weekend, and what was boring rain in the valley and frozen rain on the slope turned into extremely dramatic clouds + 80km/h wind once we hit the ridge. I've posted a couple of photos on my blog.

Brrrrr! Wow, what dramatic shots. I've never experienced wind that intense.

It was surprisingly warm actually - temperatures were around freezing point, and my overjacket/overtrousers (similar material as non-plasticky rain ponchos) did a lot to keep the wind off me. Between the overlayer and physical exertion, I stayed warm enough in spring/autumn gear. Had a thick fleece jacket and a down vest in my backpack just in case, but they stayed there
