Must have shot a hundred, slowly getting closer, before they left. It wasn't until I looked at them on a computer that I realized one of the goats had been poking its tongue out at me :D

Oh, what a treat! We see deer here occasionally, but nothing like this.

Oh, they were watching me carefully, and eventually scarpered off. Still the first time I'm as close to them while I'm out of a tent, though

I can see why Satan is depicted as goat-faced -- the closer one staring at you seems to be Totally In Control.

Your mountain goats are in fact chamois. I seem to recall chamois being called "goat antelopes" and being split off from regular sheep and goats. Seems they are now lumped in with the goat and sheep proletariat.

Hah, wasn't very sure how they're called in English - the Romanian name translates to "black goats"
