Blooms at last

With the weather warming up I've been able to go out and walk several days in a row. It's been great to see blooms appearing at last, even though this is still pretty patchy.



A few trees are in more of a full bloom, looking relatively filled in. Many others are barely beginning.



Perhaps the surest sign of spring for me is seeing all the yellow appear. Even that has only popped up in the last week or so.



The flowers always seem to go so quick so I try to enjoy them while they last.

I imagine it might! I have a friend who used to live in Nyack NY. She had the most gorgeous large blooming tree in her front yard. She says she still misses it.

Where are you, in general? In Toronto we barely even have leaves on the crabapple trees yet.

In Illinois. I think our trees have learned to bloom piecemeal. I saw some buds as early as late March but we've had freezes and snow since then. I suspect this is why so many right now, even those in bloom, look very thready.

Yes! Where I grew up few trees did because the seasons didn't shift in the same way. So I really love that view.

Lovely! I really enjoy seeing blossoming trees, and it has been happening here for quite some time now. My apple trees are in bloom, except for one which appears to be sulking this year, but the others make up for it. I hope our bees are getting busy with them.

That I couldn't speak to because I've never had a good sense of smell. But it does make me curious because I'll bet it's not as rich as it used to be when the trees bloomed all at once and more thickly.
