Doves

This lovely mother dove built a nest in a bottlebrush shrub below our deck.  So as to not disturb mama and her little ones, I used a Zoom lens to photograph them.

Now that the babies are grown and have flown the nest, they and their parents still live nearby. The sound of their gentle cooing in the early morning and evening is soothing and very musical.

Haha, well given that these are mourning doves nothing would surprise me! We once had a pair nest on our front door and at least one time the father was agitated enough that it flew in our house and it took us some 15 minutes to chase him back out again :D

Known here as a collared dove. They are common around us and visit our feeders.
