Went for a walk around a nearby lake today. We were at the same place in June as well, and have an ambition to try and come back on the same walk at least once in all four seasons and see what we see and see what differences we see.

This was quite close to the path. It dove for something while we were watching but we couldn't see if it was succesful.

It's been brought to my attention that the black rump is wrong for pintails in eclipse plumage, so that's off the table. More likely to be a gadwall.

Greylag geese, wigeons (the larger grey ducks with brown heads) and teals (the smaller ducks that look like they're wearing a large amount of eye shadow)
(Yes, I know you can get a very good app that can identify stuff for you. I enjoy trying to do it myself, though. For me this is at least half the fun.)

I would have them in my garden, if I could.
