A snowy walk in North Shropshire
Feb. 13th, 2021 10:52 amSnow overnight during the week and glorious sunshine next day.
A walk was impossible to resist! :o)
This is Lime Kiln Lane, about four hundred yards from our front door:

We live in a very watery landscape and the streams are very full after a wet Winter!

We headed into Lime Kiln Woods:

Brock had been about. The old one-badger, my spirit animal.

Mr Reynolds had been around too. Foxy, Reynardine.

Marsh grass under the snow:

And gorse (briar)

Up through Huntington. Believe it or not these were mine workings for centuries!

Gorse putting out Spring flowers even in midwinter under snow. They say that when gorse is in flower, kissing's never out of fashion (it blooms all year round) :o)

This is an old dew pond (designed to catch dew and give sheep a drink in the days before water was piped to troughs) frozen solid!

And we headed towards the Wrekin Forest. This is popular 'walkies' territory hence the foot (and paw) prints!:

I'll post more from this peregrination another time!

Date: 2021-02-13 11:52 pm (UTC)The glittering snow, the soft "rolling hills" of light and shadow under the branches, the footprints leading away to somewhere... there is something distinctly (inasmuch as such things are ever describable as distinct) faerie about it...
