Long-tailed tit

We put a fat ball feeder a lot closer to the house than we have previously, and have been pleasantly surprised to find that the long-tailed tits, robins, and blackbirds are all quite happy to visit us here. Such good views!

Yes! They swoop in, in groups of 5-6, and hop about pecking at the fat balls enthusiastically for ten minutes, and then just as abruptly swoop out again.

Thank you! There were 3-4 of them on the feeder at the time; they cling to the top, the bottom and the sides.

Pretty birb! Does that kind of feeder make it more difficult for the squirrels?

Supposedly yes, but I haven't seen a squirrel in our garden for years. The wood pigeons are the biggest menace, as they have the tendency to knock the feeders off their stands trying to get at the peanuts!

A bunch of them were in the hedgerow outside the front of the house today and when I opened the curtains they greeted me with a very raucous good morning!
