It has been an incredibly dry and cold winter/spring here in Northern California. That means that the grass hasn't grown much so it isn't overwhelming the flowers and we are being treated to quite a show.
Lots. We still have buttercups, there are lots of popcorn flowers, goldfields are in full bloom. In wet places I've seen a lot of meandow foam, baby blue eyes, batchalor buttons, some fillaree is still in bloom. Kind of a mixed up year with both early and mid spring flowers all mixed up due to really cold nights this winter and spring.
That's a really disconcerting combination to an Alaskan eye because while we have poppies bloom in the spring, lupine are typically a late-summer (August) flower here. But, hey, they're gorgeous and we who still have a foot of snow on the ground thank you for the vicarious pleasure of them!
You are welcome. I think coastal lupin blooms quite a lot later here too, but then some of it is perennial. This lupin, a very dwarf annual form, is a spring bloomer. I'm looking forward to being in Anchorage (and out and about) in August, a little later than usual so maybe I'll have a double lupin year!
If this weather keeps up we will look like Southern California soon. I've never seen one of the occasional the mass blooms in the desert, it is sort of on my bucket list.
