It has been an incredibly dry and cold winter/spring here in Northern California. That means that the grass hasn't grown much so it isn't overwhelming the flowers and we are being treated to quite a show.
That's a really disconcerting combination to an Alaskan eye because while we have poppies bloom in the spring, lupine are typically a late-summer (August) flower here. But, hey, they're gorgeous and we who still have a foot of snow on the ground thank you for the vicarious pleasure of them!
