Butterflies among Wild Marjoram flowers

I walked past a patch of Wild Marjoram (Oregano vulgare) today and as usual it was full of bees and butterflies. Butterflies are even worse than birds for keeping still but this time I managed to get a couple of quite nice photos.

Both types are common locally.

Peacocks are very common here but it's the first time I've seen a Painted Lady. I suspect it's the very warm summer we've had that have tempted them further north than usual.

I love peacocks too, they're so wonderfully extravagant and eyecatching.
