A few pics from our last walk

The Bulrushes are out and we ran across some in a local pool:



There were butterflies in abundance. This is a small heath sipping nectar on a thistle head. We were surrounded by scores of them!



This magnificent fungus (it was about two feet across) is a shaggy bracket. There was a wasps' nest in that crack underneath!



The oaks are now in full leaf:



Another butterfly. This is a small copper on a holly sapling:



Green across the fields as far as the Welsh border:



It was a nice day for that sort of thing! :o)

Aww, the wasps have an awning over their door! It's almost like something out of a children's book, except ... wasps.

I've always liked shelf fungus. Something about them being shelf-like is just very appealing, you know?

We didn't see any of the big local raptors this time round- we get red kites and buzzards.

Plenty of skylarks though!

We haven't had the best of Summers but there has been the occasional glorious day.
