Fall Light and Color

Took this top picture during a recent walk where the light was creating an amazingly rich color on the ground. The others were during a recent outing where the tree colors were so stunning I stopped to take some pictures.

I love the first two photos. Particularly the top one - great use of light. Makes me want to do a walk - well almost, it's overcast. I've been enjoying my tree outside my window - it's fading from bright red and orange to paler yellows and orange.

Yeah, I've had to skip walks these past few days because it's been so windy. Cold isn't so bad but cold+wind, just no.

Absolutely amazing colours! Here most of the leaves have already fallen.

If our wind keeps up locally, I suspect all leaves will be on the ground by the end of this week!

Ohhh, these are beautiful. Your first pic reminds me of an artist I used to know. He designed fabric, and got his ideas from tree shadows on the ground.

I do love spring but have to admit that this is my favorite time of year -- though traditionally the trees have turned in October, not November, but there's not much that's keeping to tradition with nature these days.

What species are the yellow ones? They almost look like gingkos in coloration.

I'm afraid I don't know -- my best guess would be maples given the shape of the leaves but I'll bet someone else here would know!
