Coming out at the far end of Short Wood (more bluebells)

Bluebells with the ferns beginning to unfold:





This little tree getting a foothold on the edge of the woodland amused me. This is the stump of an old telegraph pole. :o)



This brought us to Huntington Lane. It's hard to believe that this was a coal mining area from the 17th to the early 21st century!

The gorse (whin or briar if you prefer depending where you live) was in full bloom.





The wild garlic is beginning to bud up and will soon be in full bloom:



And those big oaks are starting to leaf up:



It was rather an impressive sky:



We headed into the Ercall Forest. This was a royal hunting forest in the middle ages:



The undergrowth was a carpet of dog's mercury:

A waterfall of lichen (and at least one fungus)
