We got some decent weather yesterday so took a walk up the Wrekin.  As you know the Wrekin is our local hill (at 1335' it counts as a mountain) and it's the one we actually live under.

As we started to climb out (you rise to 1335' in about two and a half miles so it's quite a demanding walk) you could see the colours beginning to turn:

There was industry up on the hill at some point in the past. I think this was probably a lime kiln:

This gives some idea of the climb out. It gets steeper further up:

The view off from about half way up. Rather a lot of Autumnal haze yesterday:

Looking back down the hill towards the small town of Ketley which is the next town along to the west of us:

There is a trig point at the peak which tells you when you have actually reached the 1335' mark. It was on a plain concrete plinth but the local art club have done things to it!

And the trig point itself with its new plinth:

Definite Autumnal colours in the landscape:

On the way down I noticed this amazing root system:

And that was yesterday's walk. About six miles in all but it feels double that due to the  demanding height.

Not to get all TMI, but just some background for relevance: I'm a caregiver for my Mum. Shortly before I'd come across this post, I'd written a friend and... if I'm being honest, pretty much had a pity party about how I'd planned to go out for a couple of hours this morning and it didn't look like I'd be able. Then I log on here to see this. Not only are your photos beautiful--and they are!--you've also helped me understand why I value them so. So once again, thank you. :)
