yourlibrarian: Hummingbird Profile (NAT-Hummingbird Profile-yourlibrarian)
[personal profile] yourlibrarian posting in [community profile] common_nature

We have 2 dwarf lilacs on our balcony, which have now begun to bloom. They stay outside all year but given the increasingly erratic temperatures, in the past 5 years my partner brings them in on freezing nights once there are signs of buds. We've speculated for some time as to what the birds think about these bushes near the food plate that appear and disappear regularly.

As can be seen by the bare tree in the background, not every tree is aflower or leafy yet. But it's great to see the spots of color and the green. And with May finally arriving maybe it will finally seem like a consistent spring.

Also off-topic, [community profile] 3weeks4dreamwidth is underway and I am again running a fundraiser for Dreamwidth where people offer to either donate or receive points for paid Dreamwidth services. If you are interested in doing either or learning more, please visit today's post there explaining the event.

Some of my lilacs are still blooming, but others are done. Lily of the valley is blooming and smells so sweet.

Your lilacs are lovely and so are the flowering fruit trees! We've had such a cold spring it's going to be weeks until the lilacs flower here.
