We had a trip to north Wales last week to the coastal town of Tywyn (pronounced 'tow' as in truck- win)

Our first full day in Tywyn was a bit mirky although mild enough.

We set out for a walk on the northern coastal side of the town to the hamlet of Tonfanau.

Mist over the hills:

And looking back into town:

Ghostly hills in the mist:

Afon Dysyinni, the River Dysinni:

The railway bridge over the river- this is the main line not the narrow gauge:

Gorse in full bloom on the hills:

The foot bridge over the river at Tonfanau:

Old and new:

We reached the station- a tiny station with almost no settlement. There was once a barracks here hence the station:

There'd been a new tree planted as a monument to fifty years this year of the Ugandan Asian community arriving. If you're my age, you may remember that horror Idi Amin and what he did. Quite a number of folks settled in Tywyn and the old barracks was used as temporary accomodation- this is their thank you to the people of Tywyn.

So many dry stone walls locally. This is a particularly fine one:

And that was our walk!
