Whale Watching

I should immediately add that although we did see whales, I was not able to get any pics of them! Unfortunately the boat, which was not that large, was rocking too much to focus and the whales came and went too quickly even for the camera phone. Did catch the sea lions on the buoys but not even the ones briefly following us out of the docks as they were there and gone too quickly.



This was, in fact, my only photo from the boat!



There were lots of great views from shore however.

It looks like a beautiful day! I went whale watching once, many years ago, and we were fortunate in our sightings. It was a ferry ride from Long Beach, CA to Catalina Island.

Ooh, sounds like a great outing! I actually went on a day trip to Catalina as well but it wasn't such a good day. We had a storm coming back and it was not pleasant. To add insult to misery I ended up quite sunburned from the trip out as well since I'd been fighting seasickness and needed to stay in the fresh air.

I just realized I hadn't made clear the Catalina trip was decades ago!

I did wonder if given the small boat size I might get seasick and 2 people on board were. But this time around I had no problems and really enjoyed being out on the water.

And yeah, the tilt of the buoy sufficiently demonstrates how choppy the waters were; I won’t demand receipts for the aquatic fauna.
