yourlibrarian: Long Time Ago for Spike and Angel (BUF-LongTime-sfwolfpup)

I wish I'd had our car in this photo as a reference point for how large those trees were, At least in the next photo you can see a park building in the bottom left which gives you some idea. It was very impressive to be driving through these roads of giants.

These were in Silver Falls State Park. Unfortunately the waterfalls were far enough to walk that one of our party couldn't do it but we loved the trees.

One of the many beautiful yellow bushes we saw in various places.

Don't know what these flowers are called but they're quite striking.

Roses outside our hotel.

They are, I think a form of what get called 'red hot pokers' here.

Great pics!

Red Hot Pokers are "kniphofia" genus. From South Africa, perennial, extremely drought tolerant, they can be invasive here in California. See the Wiki entry, there are 70 species in a variety of colors.

Lovely photos, especially those tall tall trees. In the company of giants…

Those trees are awe-inspiring!

I think the gorgeous yellow-flowered bushes are Scotch broom. It's native to you but really widespread in California, which is where I got familiar with it.

I'm sorry, I got my posters of great photos to this community mixed up! It's not native to the US at all and may prefer the milder climates here. I haven't seen it in Minnesota either. It's native to the UK and parts of Europe.

Those flowers are so bright, it's like someone turned up the saturation IRL! The yellow blooms in particular are really striking.
