Mount Shasta and Entering San Francisco

In our final few days we left Oregon, though stayed the night just outside its border in Mount Shasta. The mountain is clearly seen looming over the city but we could see it for many miles as we headed south and finally passed into California.







Although Mt Shasta was the biggest and clearest peak, there were others that could be seen from town as well.



We left Mt. Shasta and took a steep drive down to Sacramento before veering off towards San Francisco. The next shot is from our approach to the city. The second two are when we crossed the San Mateo bridge over the bay and could see the city in the distance.

Yes, their famous fog/smog definitely had an effect even though we had a very clear day. I also really liked how that came out 🙂

I enjoyed a lovely visit to Mt. Shasta almost 40 years ago. I sat on a log about halfway up and shared my sandwich with a friendly squirrel. Thanks for the memories!

I do too, the contrast was so sharp! At the same time that bridge was so close to the water, it felt like we were almost on it.
