San Francisco Area

Our trip had ended in San Francisco because I was there to attend the memorial of a friend's mother. The cemetery was a beautiful place.



One of the other participants mentioned how in all the times she had visited the city there had never been a day of such beautiful weather. We had had it all along on the trip, which was amazing given the rainy and foggy reputations of the places we went.

We were SO fortunate! We had pretty clear weather on our last trip in October but there was one day when it not just rained but stormed and we were due to go out on a boat trip. So that was just a "play cards in the hotel" day. Unfortunately we had just the one full day there but maybe I'll be able to go back sometime.

Ah, my hometown! I'm glad the weather cooperated. Very nice pictures. Those are Brown Pelicans, the most common species there. :)

I love that you used this icon. I had another photo that was similar to the fourth one above, and it made me think of a TOS background painting of a distant city.

You may enjoy knowing that I once got to see a screening of The Voyage Home at the Castro Theater. The audience was appropriately rowdy, and when the Bounty approached San Francisco and Sulu remarked that he was born there, the crowd went absolutely wild. XD

Oooh, that must have been a cool experience! I lived in SoCal at the time the movie came out and those were the days of camping out in lines. I still remember bits of the audience reaction during our first view of Trek IV.

I like to visit nice cemeteries for peaceful nature watching, but sometimes feel creepy doing so.

I imagine in some areas it's one of the few large outdoor spaces around and good for walks. It varies by cemetery, of course, but I know one in L.A. actually does movie nights and different events there.

This one was up on a hillside and had some really nice views (though could be chilly there on a less warm day given the wind).
