Self-seeded gifts

Some might call them weeds, but I like them in my spring garden.

Queen Anne's Lace in a crack in the concrete	Purple Toadflax - it seeds everywhere, and I love it
hellebores and a self-seeded cineraria in my shady bank	they're from last year's plants (rengarenga flowers at left)
The frondy plant is Common Rampling Fumitory	and a Corn Marigold at left, a self-seeded lawn daisy at right
Parsley self-seeds like crazy, in every crack	I only planted nasturtiums once, three years ago

Oh, Queen Anne's lace! My granddad used to snort in disdain when we called it that. "Wild carrot!" he'd correct.

That's a floribunda rose called Centurion. I have a pelargonium the same colour that I described to a friend as "too red", and she said "there's no such thing"! Against the green leaves these reds shimmer with black edges.

I recall the Day-Glo coral/orange/red of Super Star (known as Tropicana in the U.S.) receiving that-can’t-be-real double-takes when it debuted in the 60’s.

Ah a breath of fresh spring air. Just as we are plunging into the abyss of winter.
I have had cineraria in past yards and loved them. Too hot and dry here. Parsley usually seeds all over the yard, but not this year. Fun to see yours in the cracks.

I like the flower heads it makes, which is why I get all the extra parsley everywhere!
