Fire in the Sky Sunset

Some weeks back I saw one of the most fiery color sunsets I've yet seen. It's usually the case that sunsets look even more colorful to the camera, but in this case it was already a strong red, and was widespread.







Interestingly, the very dark red sky actually lightened into pastel colors as the sun reached the horizon.

Yes, especially in the first lake view, you can see a redder reflection than the sky was even showing then.

Now that's a thought! I wouldn't have thought so given how far south we are, but it was definitely the reddest sunset I've yet seen.

Nice. I can never seem to get the real colours in my pics. Something looks amazing but not so great in my pic. Of course, I put zero effort into it, just point my phone and click, so I am sure there are some easy things I can do to improve that if I really wanted to

It's not necessarily you. I routinely notice, particularly with sunsets, but sometimes other things as well, that the colors I see are not those that get reflected in the photo. Of course, sometimes they look even better in the photos but it's usually the other way around.
