Muskrat and Carp
Jun. 15th, 2026 02:25 pm
One of our local muskrats, spotted in what looks like a lot of grass blown into the lake. But the real view was what we saw a few weeks ago farther down...
We have carp in our lake, BIG carp. This day we saw as many as 7 swimming near one another, and were only able to get photos because it was a rare day with very little breeze.
These fish are about 3 feet in length. The biggest we've seen are around 5 feet, but the 3 footers are about the average size when we spot some.

Aside from ripples on the water, we run into reflection problems as can be seen in the next photo, when the building reflection obscures part of the fish.

Date: 2026-06-16 04:01 am (UTC)... I'm afraid I didn't at first notice this was in this community and when I saw the header I didn't expect a real muskrat. Perfectly nice rodent, sorry to doubt you, Mr. or Mrs. Muskrat.
