Caterpillar

Here is a strange caterpillar I saw in my driveway. It is bright yellow, fuzzy, and has four black hairs or spiky things near the front.

Looks like Acronicta americana, or the caterpillar of the American Dagger Moth. They can range in colour from pale cream to really bright yellow. The four spiky hairs give it away:

It is the first time I've ever seen one, to my recollection! And it was right out in the open. Pretty cool. :D

How cool! Though it doesn't look natural at all - if I'd seen something like that I would have supposed it was a bit of a brush or something someone had dropped :-)

i have seen ones before with the 4 spikes but i don't think bright yellow. Nice sighting.
