A Canary at a greenhouse conservancy. It posed very nicely for me right on the sign identifying it.

Y'know, it'd never occurred to me that canaries are named after the Canary Islands.

(I also don't think I've seen one not in a small cage, except perhaps on TV.)

I never really thought about it either! These canaries are at a conservancy that is mostly home to tropical plants and flowers, and a few other birds-- quail and waxbill and...? I think the canaries are new.
