Thank you! My new camera was cheap and I haven't worked out how to circumvent its temperamental flaws yet but luckily it LOVES colourful flowers in close-up.

I don't know what their preferred habitat is in your part of the world but over here they seem to like disturbed ground such as roadsides &c.

Yes, I find the individual petals close-up to be amongst the prettiest of any common wildflower.
