highlyeccentric: Image of a black rooster with a skeptical look (gallus gallus domestics)

Close-up of an Ironbark trunk, at Minyon Grass in the Nightcap National Park.

A gum of some sort, I'm terrible at identifying eucalypts.

I *think* that's a Norfolk Island Pine. Could be some other kind of pine, though. Photo taken from Lennox Head.

Minyon Falls, Nightcap National Park. I think that's a she-oak hanging out over the falls.

Photos selected from those I've been posting at [tumblr.com profile] speculumannorum / [syndicated profile] speculumannorum_feed. All tree identification is extremely suspect.

I absolutely adore waterfalls. I could sit on that ledge all day, listening and watching. Thank you for sharing this lovely place with us.

Those are some impressive bore-holes in that bark. Thank you for sharing. :-)

Almost definitely a she-oak, but a very unhappy one.

Are you a native or a visitor, if you don't mind me asking?

The ones in my area do fine, but I suspect they're in rather more hospitable locations.

I hope you had a lovely trip and didn't get rained on too much. It really has been a weird summer. (Also, hi! Nice to meet you)

Ooh, fascinating! I subscribe to your feed and get your pictures delivered to my f-list, but I've been operating under the assumption that comment to feed posts won't get to you. Thus, seizing an opportunity to reply to nifty new-to-me trees!

Wonderful bark and waterfalls--a couple of my favorite things to look at. Beautiful! I may just have to subscribe to your feed.

Ah, someday I will get to Australia. Someday.

Here are all these lovely photos, and I notice your chicken icon. :-D I had a black hen as a kid, my favorite, the only black one in a coop full of Rhode Island Reds. She was by far the most docile of the little flock. These days, I can't have chickens where I live, so I paint them instead.

That sure does look like a Norfolk pine. There were a lot of them in south Florida where I grew up -- but our rare freezes would do them a great deal of damage. How cold does it get, where you took these shots?
