I *think* that's a Norfolk Island Pine. Could be some other kind of pine, though. Photo taken from Lennox Head.

That one is a particularly good waterfall. You could even sit in the creek a yard or so up from the cliff, if you waded out there - some young guys were doing that when I was there.

Almost definitely a she-oak, but a very unhappy one.

Are you a native or a visitor, if you don't mind me asking?

Both! (Well, assuming by native you mean grew up there. 'M not indigenous.) I'm living in Europe at the moment, was breifly back in Aus for Christmas and most of January.

The ones in my area do fine, but I suspect they're in rather more hospitable locations.

There are a bunch more photos of the waterfall on speculumannorum - i think the last of them have posted, so no new ones coming up, but plenty went up in the last week or so.

Here are all these lovely photos, and I notice your chicken icon. :-D I had a black hen as a kid, my favorite, the only black one in a coop full of Rhode Island Reds. She was by far the most docile of the little flock. These days, I can't have chickens where I live, so I paint them instead.

That sure does look like a Norfolk pine. There were a lot of them in south Florida where I grew up -- but our rare freezes would do them a great deal of damage. How cold does it get, where you took these shots?

I met the chickens in question on a friend's neighbour's property. I do like chickens, they're very silly birds.

All of those shots are from the far north coast of NSW, where I doubt it ever freezes on the coast. Maaaaybe up in the range? It's not much of a range, though. *goes and investigates* Hmm. It looks like there are occasionally lows of -1 in Lismore in July. But I don't think you typically get snow in the Nightcap ranges, put it that way.
