White plume moth

I was pulling out bindweed in the garden when I disturbed this moth. I raced inside to get my camera, hoping it would stay put long enough for me to photograph it, and it did!

Yes! And they normally perch with their wings folded. I'm not sure why this one rested in this pose for so long.

And normally you don't get to see them - they keep them furled when they're perched, usually. \o/

It was so exciting to see it like this. I've seen them flutter past before but they're very good at hiding and rarely sit in the open with their wings spread.
