We went to Upton Warren this weekend to try and catch a glimpse of the avocets. We didn't see the avocets, but we did see a lot of lapwings and black-headed gulls on the flashes. Every time I visit the hides Upton Warren I wish for a slightly longer reach for my telephoto (max 200 mm)...

Date: 2016-03-01 08:52 am (UTC)We used to get loads of lapwings around during spring ploughing season and I loved to watch them and listen to their calls. Sadly we hardly get any these days - we are engulfed by miscanthus - I really miss them.
