I didn't realize they were edible! I did a little googling and it looks like are sometimes used for food and folk medicine. Learn something every day.

You can get a pretty versatile jelly. They tend to be a bit bitter, the fruit of some trees more than others so some experimentation with sugar ratio can be needed. I'd love to find out what the fruit from the tree in my garden is like but the birds gobble them before they're fully ripe (which I guess says something).

Well, that's cool. I've just got back to Australia from Finland and Aland, and we saw these everywhere, and wondered what they were.

I've heard of it but I don't know as I've ever seen it. Must be very pretty to see a bunch of them together.
