On October 8 it was in the mid 80s and we had the air conditioning on. On the 10th we had to run the heater, and on the 11th...it began to snow.

As you can see most of our trees hadn't even been turning colors yet. But that afternoon we had the biggest snowflakes I've ever seen, about the size of a U.S. quarter, falling thickly. Normally when I try to take photos of falling snow you can't even see it unless it's a very heavy snowfall. But these were so large you couldn't miss them.

The temperature change was also so recent that mist started rising up in a sheet over the lake as the snow fell into it in the photo below.

A week later I was at the beach in Florida where temperatures were in the upper 80s and low 90s.

Melbourne Beach, though far enough away not to see the red tide effects...

And finally autumn at the end of October.

Goodness, what a variety of weather! It's so warm and rainy here (New Jersey), I suspect it'll be quite awhile until we see any snow.

I had to scrape frost off the car windows a couple of days ago.

Today I wore sandals.
