Yesterday the babies spent a while sitting in the shade of the madrone with their beaks open, possibly to cool themselves.

Yup, looks like heatface, alright. My partner sometimes jokes about corellating the angle of crow's open beaks to the thermal comfort index, but they haven't done the work yet :)
