Hummingbirds and Ducks

Some recent photos



Come August we get more frequent visits from hummingbirds. There are at least two coming by every hour, and on occasion have chased one another off. One is a little plumper, the one above is the thinner one. They generally avoid the feeder if we're on the balcony but have begun perching lately for longer drinks, allowing me to get photos before they zoom off.





On the day these babies were swimming about, a great many ducks were out on the lake, eating. Although there are large patches of algae on the surface we are regularly treated to duck butt as they go below to snag food. The funniest part of that is always the feet waggling around to keep them under.

Nice to see hummingbirds as they are not native here.

We only ever see one type but they show up faithfully every summer :)
